SeasonalJobs.dol.gov: how to use the official portal for seasonal jobs

SeasonalJobs.dol.gov is the Department of Labor portal where employers publish the job orders for temporary visas. It is the official source — but the site is in English and not very friendly. This guide shows how to read each field and what to check before applying.

How to search for a job

On the portal, you can filter by keyword (for example “farm worker” or “tractor”), state and visa type. Use English terms: the content of the job orders is entirely in English.

On H2A Works you find the same database by state, occupation and start month, already with titles and summaries in Portuguese.

How to read a job order

The fields that matter most when comparing jobs:

  • Case number: the case identifier, used to confirm that the job is real.
  • Job title and job duties: position and activities (harvest, machinery, cattle, nursery).
  • Wage offered: salary or amount per unit produced.
  • Begin date and end date: expected start and end of the contract.
  • Housing and transportation: lodging and transport provided by the employer.
  • How to apply: email, phone or form for applying.

How to confirm the job is real

Keep the case number and look it up on the official portal. If the person offering you the job does not give the case number, or asks for payment by PIX to an individual, do not go ahead.

Is SeasonalJobs.dol.gov official?

Yes. It is the US Department of Labor's portal for job orders of temporary programs such as the H-2A and H-2B.

Can I apply through SeasonalJobs itself?

The portal shows the job orders and the employer's contact; applying is usually done by email or phone to the contact given. On H2A Works you build your English résumé and send it from your Gmail.

Is H2A Works the same as SeasonalJobs?

No. H2A Works is an independent platform, with no affiliation with the US government, that organizes public job-order data to make searching in Portuguese easier.
