What is the H-2A visa?
The H-2A is the US visa for temporary or seasonal agricultural work. The employer shows the Department of Labor that it could not find enough American workers and may hire foreign workers for a set period, usually up to one year.
How can a foreign worker get an H-2A job?
Find a certified job order, send your English résumé to the application contact and wait for the employer's selection. If you are selected, the visa process follows the instructions of the US consulate. Never pay to be hired.
Does H2A Works guarantee a job or visa approval?
No. The platform organizes public data, résumés and applications. Hiring depends on the employer and the visa depends on United States authorities.
Can H-2A employers charge workers a fee?
No. Employers and their agents may not charge workers recruitment or H-2A certification fees. Be wary of anyone who sells jobs or promises guaranteed hiring.
Where do the jobs shown come from?
Opportunities are organized from public H-2A job order data published by the Department of Labor. Before applying, always check the job's conditions and status.
Does the H-2A job already exist before I travel?
Yes. The employer must prove to the US government that it could not find local workers, the Department of Labor certifies the job and the job order is published on an official website. Only then does it select workers, and you do the visa interview at the consulate in your country.
How can I tell if a job is fake?
Ask for the case number and look it up in the Department of Labor's official system. The H2A Works verifier does this lookup in seconds. Be wary of jobs without a number, numbers that do not exist and any charge to secure the job.
What is a recruitment fee and why is it prohibited?
It is the fee some intermediaries charge workers to get them the job. The H-2 program's rules prohibit charging this fee to the worker. H2A Works never charges for a job: you only pay for the tool, if you want it.
Do I need to speak English to work with H-2A?
It depends on the job. Communication with the employer is usually in English, and some job orders require basic English. Read the requirements of each job. H2A Works helps with résumés and messages in English.
