Documents to work on H-2A: complete checklist
List of documents and information to gather for H-2A: passport, DS-160, petition confirmation, résumé, photos and what the consulate usually asks for.

The main H-2A documents are a valid passport, the DS-160 form confirmation, the approved petition details provided by the employer and, at the interview, the papers indicated by the consulate. The consulate publishes the official, updated list.
Quick answer: start with the passport and the résumé. After the employer selects you, gather the petition details, fill in the DS-160 and follow the consulate's list for the interview.
Before being selected
- Valid passport. Check the validity and the consulate's rules for your case.
- Résumé in English. One page, with concrete experience. See the résumé template.
- Up-to-date contacts. An email you check every day and a phone with WhatsApp.
- Copy of the job order. Keep the case number and the employer's contact.
After being selected
- Petition details. The employer or their agent gives you what you need for the process. Keep everything.
