Duties and description

Original English description
  • Feed and water livestock while monitoring food and water supplies. Monitor water supplies from freezing temperatures. Herd livestock to winter enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease and check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, including administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as assisting with animal births. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Drive to town for cattle supplies on occasion.

Minimum of 1 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to expensive tools and equipment. Failure to pass criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 75 pounds. Extensive pushing/pulling required. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles.
