Duties and description

Original English description
  • Workers will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with livestock care on a cattle operation during the winter calving and spring breeding season. The majority of the workers' time will be spent feeding and caring for livestock. During calving and breeding, workers will operate tractors and other farm equipment used for feeding livestock, bedding cattle pens, and moving snow within cattle areas. Duties include assisting with livestock feeding, monitoring cattle, assisting with calving activities, detecting heats, moving and handling cattle for artificial insemination procedures directed by the employer, and attending to cattle health and wellbeing. During this period, workers will also move and stack hay bales, assist with hauling grain from the farm to a local elevator, handle and store grain, and perform general farm labor and maintenance, including equipment maintenance, fence repair, and upkeep of livestock areas. Workers will be supervised by the farm owner during daily operations and will receive instructions regarding assigned tasks and safety procedures. The need for these workers ends once breeding is complete. Work hours are dependent on weather, crop conditions, and operational demands and may fluctuate during the season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
