Duties and description

Original English description
  • The worker will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with the winter feeding and care of beef cattle on a livestock operation in north central South Dakota, where winter conditions do not allow the cattle to graze. The majority of the worker's time will be spent feeding cows and calves daily throughout the winter months. The worker will operate tractors used in the cattle operation and will haul hay, move and stack hay bales, and handle and store grain used as cattle feed. The worker will perform trucking and hauling duties related to the farm operation. Duties also include moving livestock, handling cattle, and attending to the health and wellbeing of the cattle as part of daily livestock care. The worker will maintain feeding equipment and perform routine maintenance of other farm equipment used in the cattle operation to keep it in proper working condition. Incidental duties include moving snow on the farm as needed during the winter months. The worker will also perform general farm labor directly related to the cattle operation. Duties are seasonal in nature and directly support the employer's livestock production during the winter feeding period. Work hours are dependent on weather, crop conditions, and operational demands and may fluctuate during the season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
