Duties and description

Original English description
  • Job duties include but are not limited to:
  • Operate farm machinery to plant, spray, cultivate, harvest and store crops.
  • Feeding, watering, herding, castrating, branding, weighing, catching and loading cattle.
  • Examining animals to detect diseases, injuries and ensure that they are in optimal health.
  • Assisting in birthing, administering medications, vaccinations, or insecticide.
  • Monitor corn stalk fields for grazing purposes and determine whether mother cows and calves should move to new grazing fields.
  • Move animals between pens, pastures and barns as directed
  • Load/unload feed, supplies, and bedding materials.
  • Assist in preparation of pastures, feedlots, and animal facilities for seasonal changes.
  • Operate tractors, skid steers, and other farm equipment to haul feed, manure, and supplies
  • Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures.
  • Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, maintaining and repair of equipment, various workshop tasks as well as maintenance of general buildings.
  • Maintain and repair fencing.
  • Ensure humane handling of animals
