Duties and description

Original English description
  • H&S FreshPak operates as a potato washing and packaging facility, active during the late summer to early fall harvest season
  • (August-September) and throughout the washing and grading period (October-May). Employees play multifaceted roles, beginning with driving farm trucks, operating tractors, and managing potato unloading equipment during the harvest. As the season progresses, responsibilities shift to include packaging duties, where employees handle 50lb bags and boxes of potatoes, stack them on pallets, and load them onto railcars and farm trucks using forklifts. Throughout the year, employees engage in general maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment and facilities. During the winter months (November-April), additional responsibilities include assisting with equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations during the next harvest season. In the spring (April-June), employees focus on cleaning and servicing all equipment in preparation for the upcoming harvest. Job duties encompass a wide range of tasks, including guiding products on conveyors, loading and unloading crops using various equipment, and maintaining grounds and landscaping. Employees also participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, and post-harvest treatment of crops. Maintenance tasks extend to repairing farm vehicles, implements, production equipment and building structures. The job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures and physical tasks such as lifting 50 lbs. and operating machinery. A regular driver's license and a minimum of three months of farm experience are necessary for the role. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer. Workers returning for a consecutive season will be paid at the previous season’s rate if that rate exceeds the current published rate.
