Green Card lottery: can Brazilians take part?
Brazil is on the list of countries excluded from the Green Card lottery. See why, the possible exceptions, how to avoid scams and what alternatives exist.

In general, Brazilians cannot take part in the Green Card lottery. Brazil is on the list of countries whose natives cannot apply to the diversity visa (DV) program. The US Department of State recalculates this list every year, so check the version for the year you want to take part.
Quick answer: people born in Brazil are not eligible for the lottery, with rare exceptions: in some cases you can take part through the country of birth of your spouse or parents, if that country is eligible. The full rule is on the Department of State website. Never pay anyone to "guarantee" a draw.
What the Green Card lottery is
It is the Diversity Visa Program (DV). The US government draws a number of immigrant visas among people born in countries with few immigrants in the US, and those selected go through an interview and may receive the green card. Registration is done only through the Department of State's official website.
