Duties and description

Original English description
  • Operate tractors and farm machinery to prepare soil, plant, cultivate, spray, fertilize, harvest, and store grain and forage crops grown for the dairy operation. Attach and operate implements, including plows, discs, drills, mowers, balers, and harvesting equipment. Transport harvested crops to farm storage areas.
  • Prepare and adjust farm equipment for seasonal field operations, including setting up harvesting equipment and GPS guidance systems. Perform routine servicing, lubrication, and repairs on machinery used in these operations. Spread manure on agricultural fields, pick rocks, and maintain fences and farm structures associated with crop production. Must be able to lift and carry 60 pounds.

Minimum of (3) months experience required. To comply with Federal, State and County regulations must be willing to obtain an appropriate driver's license (class D) within two months of employment. If applicant does have a license, applicant must furnish employer with current drivers abstract showing acceptable driving record. Class A license preferred. High school diploma/GED required. Proficient in speaking and reading Dutch and/or German to communicate with the maker of the combine. Ability to learn and use agricultural technology.
