Duties and description

Original English description
  • The position requires the safe and efficient handling of grain throughout all stages of storage and shipment. Duties include accurately preparing and documenting scale tickets and inspecting incoming loads to ensure compliance with established moisture content and grade quality standards. Grain must be transferred to the appropriate storage bins using grain conveying systems while maintaining even distribution and minimizing waste. The operator is responsible for shipping employer-grown crops as required, which involves moving grain from storage bins to truck loading bins and coordinating the loading process for outbound transportation. Manual shoveling of grain is required in areas where automatic conveyor equipment cannot fully remove grain, especially during bin clean-outs or maintenance operations. Regular housekeeping duties must be performed to ensure that grain storage areas, loading zones, and surrounding facilities remain clean, safe, and compliant with operational and safety standards. Additional responsibilities include performing routine maintenance on grain handling equipment, conducting minor mechanical repairs when necessary, and ensuring that all machinery is in safe working condition. This position also requires the ability to safely access vertical grain legs and elevated equipment or storage areas to inspect or maintain facility operations. During periods of snow accumulation, the position includes snow removal responsibilities. This involves operating snow removal equipment to clear snow from driveways, access roads, and equipment paths. Sand or salt may be applied to maintain safe walking and driving conditions around work zones. Timely snow removal is essential to prevent disruption in daily operations. Daily duties may vary. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer. Must communicate in English. Work may include weekends, evenings, or overtime as necessary. The employer will provide notice of schedule changes as far in advance as possible. The employer reserves the right to increase workers' pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.
