Duties and description

Original English description
  • Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for
  • grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or
  • disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Mark livestock to
  • identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Maintain heated watering
  • system. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Maintain
  • equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment or livestock from
  • one location to another on the farm. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant
  • solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Shift animals between grazing areas to
  • ensure that they have sufficient access to food. Patrol grazing lands on horseback or using
  • all-terrain vehicles. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Spray livestock with
  • disinfectants and insecticides, or dip or bathe animals. Operate snow removal equipment in
  • order to operate feed wagons. Drive to town for cattle supplies on occasion. Remove ice
  • formed in water. Confine livestock in stalls. Farming with livestock. No CDL required and no
  • commercial truck driving required.

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive sitting is required. Extensive walking is required. Repetitive movements is required. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles. Exceptional performance may be rewarded with additional compensation or benefits at the employers discretion.
