Duties and description

Original English description
  • Job duties include operating equipment to harvest and haul sugarcane in connection with the harvesting of a perishable crop; perform manual labor to assist in harvesting/unloading sugarcane; repair/maintain farm vehicles, implements, mechanical equipment; 2 months previous experience required in operating sugarcane harvest equipment. Job involves extensive sitting, exposure to extreme temperatures, repetitive movements, and frequent stooping. Must be able to lift/carry sufficient weight (approximately 50 pounds) to move equipment and material necessary to complete assigned tasks.  The Employer will rely on workers own representations and observations of workers to assess if the workers meet this qualification. Travel may be required to and from field locations; transportation is provided; drug screening may be required upon hire and randomly (paid for by employer). Worker may be paid above the stated hourly rate commensurate with experience, expertise, and job-related skills, at the employer’s discretion. Bonus may be paid at the end of contract at the discretion of the employer. Base hours offered is 49 hours; additional hours are usually offered during a plentiful season and may include 10-40 additional hours of work depending on the nature of the season.
  • Las tareas del puesto incluyen operar equipo para cosechar y transportar caña de azúcar en relación con la cosecha de un cultivo perecedero; realizar labores manuales para ayudar en la cosecha y descarga de la caña de azúcar; y reparar y mantener vehículos agrícolas, implementos y equipo mecánico. Se requieren dos (2) meses de experiencia previa en la operación de equipo de cosecha de caña de azúcar. El trabajo requiere permanecer sentado durante períodos prolongados, exposición a temperaturas extremas, la realización de movimientos repetitivos y agacharse con frecuencia. El trabajador debe ser capaz de levantar y cargar suficiente peso (aproximadamente 50 libras) para mover el equipo y los materiales necesarios para completar las tareas asignadas. El empleador se basará en las propias manifestaciones del trabajador y en su observación para determinar si el trabajador cumple con este requisito. Puede requerirse viajar hacia y desde los lugares de trabajo en el campo; el transporte será proporcionado por el empleador. Puede requerirse una prueba de detección de drogas al momento de la contratación y de manera aleatoria durante el empleo, la cual será cubierta por el empleador. El trabajador podrá recibir una remuneración mayor que la tarifa por hora establecida, de acuerdo con su experiencia, conocimientos especializados y habilidades relacionadas con el trabajo, a discreción del empleador. Asimismo, podrá otorgarse un bono al finalizar el contrato, a discreción del empleador. Las horas base ofrecidas son cuarenta y nueve (49) horas por semana. Generalmente se ofrecen horas adicionales durante períodos de alta producción, las cuales pueden incluir entre diez (10) y cuarenta (40) horas adicionales de trabajo, dependiendo de la naturaleza de la temporada.
