Duties and description

Original English description
  • Agriculture Equipment Operator and Supervisor - to operate equipment used to maintain nursery production and supervise/transport nursery workers. Drivers responsible for transporting workers will be required to have a valid and unexpired Federal Farm Labor Contractor or Federal Farm Labor Contractor Employee Registration with driving authorization. Must be able to safely operate the buses that are used to transport workers to and from work sites. Should be able to provide proof of accident-free driving record and background. Workers may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. Operate forklifts and equipment used to fertilize and apply pesticides to plants in nursery area. Drench plants with pesticides, growth regulators and /or fertilizers. Must be able to reach, bend and lift items weighing 75 pounds. Must be able to work outdoors in dusty/dirty conditions, at extreme heat and cold inclement weather. Must be able to listen to, understand, and follow simple instructions of supervisors and dispatcher. Must be able to work in fields where ants, snakes and poison ivy are encountered. The alternative work is truck maintenance and nursery equipment maintenance including the repair, irrigation, vehicles and various equipment and tools used at the nursery. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies and violation may result in immediate termination.
  • Operador y Supervisor de Equipo Agrícola: para operar el equipo utilizado para mantener la producción del vivero y supervisar/transportar a los trabajadores del vivero. Los conductores responsables del transporte de los trabajadores deberán tener un Registro Federal de Contratistas de Trabajo Agrícola o un Registro Federal de Empleados de Contratistas de Trabajo Agrícola válido y vigente con autorización para conducir. Deben poder operar con seguridad los autobuses que se utilizan para transportar a los trabajadores hacia y desde los lugares de trabajo. Deben poder proporcionar prueba de un historial de conducción sin accidentes y antecedentes. Se puede solicitar a los trabajadores que se sometan a pruebas aleatorias de drogas o alcohol sin costo alguno para el trabajador. El incumplimiento de la solicitud o un resultado positivo en la prueba puede resultar en el despido inmediato. Operar montacargas y equipos utilizados para fertilizar y aplicar pesticidas a las plantas en el área del vivero. Riego de plantas con pesticidas, reguladores de crecimiento y/o fertilizantes. Deben poder alcanzar, doblar y levantar objetos que pesen 75 libras. Deben poder trabajar al aire libre en condiciones de polvo/suciedad, calor extremo y frío inclemente. Deben poder escuchar, comprender y seguir instrucciones simples de los supervisores y el despachador. Debe ser capaz de trabajar en campos donde se encuentran hormigas, serpientes y hiedra venenosa. El trabajo alternativo consiste en el mantenimiento de camiones y de equipos de vivero, incluyendo la reparación, el riego, los vehículos y los diversos equipos y herramientas utilizados en el vivero. El uso de teléfonos celulares u otros dispositivos electrónicos personales durante el horario laboral está estrictamente prohibido, excepto para llamadas relacionadas con el trabajo o emergencias. El incumplimiento de esta norma puede resultar en el despido inmediato.
