Duties and description
- Prepare soil and fields for hay planting using tractors and implements
- Plant and maintain hay crops such as alfalfa, timothy, Bermuda grass, or mixed grasses
- Monitor crop health, irrigation schedules, and pest control measures
- Operate and maintain equipment for cutting, raking, baling, and stacking hay
- Safely transport and store hay in barns or designated areas
- Perform general maintenance and upkeep of farm equipment and property
- Assist with weather monitoring to time hay cutting and baling optimally
- Feed, water, and provide daily care for horses
- Groom horses, including brushing, bathing, and mane/tail maintenance
- Muck out stalls and maintain clean, safe stable environments
- Monitor horses’ health and behavior; report any signs of illness or injury
