Worker will be performing duties related to SOC code 49-9098 Helpers—Mechanic Helper. This is a seasonal need to assist our full-time mechanic in re-building and overhauling equipment. Assists logging equipment mechanic by making minor repair and adjustments on all types of logging equipment at the job site and garage. This role requires manual physical labor outdoors in extreme conditions and working in rain, high humidity, direct sunlight. Under the guidance of the primary mechanic Job duties will include but are not limited to: Examine and test machinery, equipment, components, and parts for defects to ensure proper functioning. Tend and observe equipment and machinery to verify efficient and safe operation. Hold or supply tools, parts, equipment, and supplies for other workers. Adjust, connect, or disconnect wiring, piping, tubing, and other parts, using hand or power tools. We could try adding a CDL requirement and may say something like worker may operate service truck with CDL to logging sites to rebuild equipment, deliver parts and components needed to rebuild, and move equipment. Disassemble broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassemble equipment when rebuilds are complete. Adjust, maintain, and repair tools, equipment, and machines, and assist more skilled workers with similar tasks. Apply protective materials to equipment, components, and parts to prevent defects and corrosion. Must speak and understand English.
