• Primary duties (performed the majority of workdays): Maintenance for facility upkeep, equipment servicing, and winterization tasks at an agricultural support facility during the winter months. Maintenance, facility preparation, and equipment care. Equipment includes, gravity tables, grain legs, color sorter, length graders, and air screen cleaner.
• Inspect and winterizing buildings, structures, and external facilities to prepare for cold weather conditions. This includes sealing cracks, gaps, and weatherproofing around doors, windows, and foundation areas using caulking, weatherstripping, and sealants. Drain, flush, and prepare water lines, sprinkler systems, and outdoor plumbing for freezing conditions, while also inspecting and servicing HVAC systems, including filter changes, cleaning, and functionality checks. Additional facility maintenance responsibilities include performing roof inspections and repairs, cleaning gutters and downspouts, patching and repairing roof leaks and siding, and performing interior facility repairs including drywall patching, painting, and wall repairs. Rodent/insect control in indoor facility.
• Equipment maintenance and servicing constitute a major portion of the duties. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on facility equipment including HVAC units, compressors, and generators. Service and maintain facility vehicles through oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks; clean, lubricate, and service mechanical systems and moving parts; and inspect, maintain, and repair electrical systems, outlets, switches, and lighting fixtures. Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and repair or replace worn belts, hoses, bearings, seals, and other component parts, including performing welding or torch work as needed. After diagnosis, the worker will need to determine how to correct them, check the equipment blueprints, repair manuals, or part catalogs, as necessary. All repairs and maintenance should be recorded along with the cost of the repair work if applicable. The worker may be responsible for ordering parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or suppliers which will need to be recorded.
• General facility operations required; maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and safety standards while performing snow removal, ice management, and winter weather preparations around facility grounds. Maintain yard areas, parking lots, and exterior grounds during winter conditions, monitor and maintain facility security systems and access points, keep detailed maintenance logs and records of repairs and services performed, follow all OSHA safety standards and facility safety protocols, and operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Lift up to 50 pounds regularly and 75 pounds occasionally, demonstrate an ability to work in cold weather conditions, and exhibit strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination.
• Employer-paid pre-employment, as well as post-employment random, upon suspicion and post-accident drug testing required. Drug testing conducted uniformly for all employees, both foreign and domestic. Drug test not required for prospective applicants prior to hiring decision.
• Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Unusual, complex or non-routine activities will be supervised. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision.
