• The Farm Equipment Mechanic will inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, service, and repair agricultural machinery and equipment used by the employer in the production, harvesting, handling, and processing of forage crops, including tractors, swathers/windrowers, hay rakes, balers, mowers, loaders, agricultural trailers, forage-processing equipment, implements, hydraulic equipment, and diesel-powered agricultural machinery. Duties include diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and operational problems; performing preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing; repairing or replacing worn or damaged bearings, belts, chains, pulleys, hoses, brakes, clutches, hydraulic components, and other mechanical parts; troubleshooting and repairing hydraulic and electrical systems, wiring, batteries, starters, alternators, sensors, and diesel-powered equipment; adjusting, calibrating, and testing machinery; welding or fabricating agricultural equipment components as necessary to complete repairs; operating equipment as necessary to diagnose problems and verify proper operation following repairs; maintaining records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, parts used, and equipment condition; identifying and reporting equipment requiring additional repair or outside service; maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area; properly storing tools, equipment, and parts; following manufacturer specifications and applicable workplace safety procedures; and performing emergency or breakdown repairs to agricultural machinery and equipment as necessary during the employer’s seasonal forage-production and harvesting operations. Employer may provide pay increases for performance and experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
