• Harvest duties to include hedging pecan trees and clearing the debris, thinning, pruning of the trees, stacking harvested product in assigned areas, grading, sanitizing. Planting tree seedlings, transplanting, weeding; covering harvested pecans. Loading/unloading, packing/unpacking harvested pecans (conveyor belts, loading machines, separators, cleaners, dryers, sorting machine, trucks, etc).
• Driving tractors will be required to conduct the harvesting, such as tractors with farming implements used while plowing. Tractors, duck cart implement, shaker, combines, grain carts. Employees will be provided all equipment free of charge and are required to maintain equipment and clean work areas daily. Workers may be required to assist with repair/care for farming machinery or irrigation lines (pumps, ditches), if need be, in order for harvesting tasks to be conducted. Exposure to extreme temperatures, repetitive movements, extensive pushing, pulling, walking, and frequent stooping. Must be able to lift and carry 100 lbs frequently.
• Workers will perform manual and machine-assisted duties associated with the production, cultivation, maintenance, harvesting, grading, and shipping of nursery and greenhouse plants, including but not limited to pecan trees, container plants, and/or other nursery stock.
• Duties may include preparing growing areas; filling pots, trays, flats, and containers with soil or growing media; planting, transplanting, spacing, moving, loading, unloading, and arranging plants; watering, fertilizing, pruning, trimming, pinching, staking, tying, and otherwise maintaining plants; monitoring plants for proper growth, quality, pests, disease, irrigation needs, and environmental conditions; removing weeds, dead plants, debris, and other undesirable growth; applying or assisting with application of fertilizers, soil amendments, and other plant-care materials under supervisor direction; and maintaining greenhouse, nursery, and field growing areas.
• Workers may operate, maintain, clean, and repair irrigation systems, greenhouse structures, shade houses, benches, carts, wagons, hand tools, and nursery equipment. Workers may install, remove, and maintain plastic coverings, shade cloth, ground cover, stakes, labels, tags, containers, and other nursery supplies. Workers may assist with climate control tasks in greenhouse areas, including opening and closing vents, doors, sidewalls, fans, heaters, shade systems, or other environmental controls as directed.
• Workers may harvest, pull, select, grade, sort, count, label, tag, wrap, package, load, and prepare nursery or greenhouse products for sale, shipment, or delivery. Workers may move plants and materials by hand, wheelbarrow, cart, wagon, forklift, tractor, or other nursery equipment, where properly trained and authorized. Workers may assist with inventory, order fulfillment, loading and unloading trucks, and general cleanup and maintenance of work areas
