Seasonal position on farm corresponding to calf weaning, acclimatization, and socialization of calves. Assist in gradually reducing calf’s dependency on mother’s milk and transitioning to a solid food diet. Introduce alternative sources of nutrition, including within pen through use of a mixer. Add wheat to diet. Transition calves to pasture. Rotate calves between fields. Sort animals into pens. Encourage social interactions to help reduce calf stress. Assist in planting/sowing and irrigating wheat. Destroy wheat and roll it into hay bales to store away for the winter months. Introduce supplemental feeding for the female cattle. Brand baby calves, observe and monitor calf’s behavior, health, and overall well-being in preparation for future shipment to market on an annual basis.
