Attend to live animals and wildlife, including giraffes and elephants on farm/ranch. Duties may include feeding, watering, herding, grazing, milking, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals. May maintain records on animals; examine animals to detect diseases and injuries; assist in birth deliveries; and administer medications, vaccinations, or insecticides as appropriate. May clean and maintain animal housing areas.
Because the animals require care 7 days per week, there are employees working every day of the week, including weekends. A given employee's typical workweek is 4-5 days per week, between 40-50 hours per week. The work day may begin / end earlier or later on any given day and evening; potential nights and weekends required depending on the animals and weather.
