- Skill Level 1.
- Burley Tobacco: Duties include, but not limited to: Nursery care, laying, trimming, top trimming, storing and greasing and peeling. Workers will be trained for a period of two days (14 hours) after which the worker is expected to cut 100 sticks per hour - does not include dropped sticks. Other related jobs and duties may include cutting weeds between plants with a hoe: removing tops and shoots from plants, applying fertilizer (side dressing). Dark Fired Tobacco: Duties include but are not limited to: Nursery removal, placing, cutting buffers/greasing, cutting, storing and peeling. Workers will be required to cut wood and haul it to the barn to burn the tobacco. Wooden boards covered with sawdust are placed under the tobacco that is hanging in the barn. The boards are burned to smoke the tobacco and this is repeated until the tobacco reaches the appropriate color. Workers will remove the ashes that remain after the tobacco is burned. The worker is required to cut 50-60 sticks per hour. Air Cured Tobacco: Duties include but are not limited to: Nursery care, placing, cutting buffers/greasing, cutting, storing and peeling. Other Related Duties for All Types of Tobacco: Workers will cut the weeds between the plants with a pick or shovel; cutting tops and suckers on plants, and applying fertilizer.
- Forage: Duties will include, but are not limited to: Land preparation, operating tillage equipment, cutting equipment. Take the hay bales to the storage barns/barns of farms that purchase the hay.
- Nursery: Duties to include but not limited to: Perform any combination of the following duties concerned with preparing soil and growth media, cultivating and otherwise participating in horticulture activities. Hauls and spreads topsoil, fertilizer, etc to condition land. Dig, rake and screen soil and fill cold frame and hot beds to prepare them for planting. Plant, spray, weed and water plants, shrubs and trees. Ties, bunches, wraps and pack flowers, plants and shrubs to fill orders. Load trucks for marketing. Work on potting line transplanting seedlings into selling containers and place in growing area. Assist with delivery of products to customers. Maintenance on farm equipment required in operation. Assist in set-up of products for sale of crops.
- Alternative Work: General farm maintenance and other duties as necessary in maintaining farming operation. Includes, but not limited to, preparing barns, draining fields, preparing soil for planting, maintenance of implements & equipment & other work as directly related to the harvest activities for which the worker is employed. Also include fixing and emptying and painting of fence/barns. Participate in livestock operation, duties may include, but not limited to, feeding, tagging, vaccinations, movement from pen to pen, and sorting. Such work will be offered when weather or harvest conditions prevent work in the primary activities listed above.

Physically able to bend, stoop, and able to stand on feet for long periods of time. Physically able to meet and perform all job specifications. May be required to take random drug and / or alcohol tests, at no cost to the worker. Testing positive or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment. All testing and background check will occur after employment has started and is not a part of the interview process. May be required to submit a criminal background check, at no cost to the worker. Felony convictions that employer reasonably believes, consistent with current law, will impair the safety and living conditions of other workers or other individuals on the farm will result in immediate termination. Failure to comply with request for criminal background check may result in immediate termination of employment.
