The employer listed in this petition operates a crawfish farming business. The workers requested under this petition are needed to assist with the preparation and maintenance of crawfish ponds for the upcoming production and harvesting season.
Workers will prepare, bait, and repair crawfish traps and assist with placing traps throughout the ponds during the harvest season. Beginning in August, they will help prepare the ponds by supporting the planting and maintenance of rice and soybeans, which provide the habitat and forage necessary for the crawfish production cycle. The crawfish harvest season begins in December and continues through June each year.
In addition, workers will perform minor repairs and routine maintenance on crawfish traps and boats used during the harvesting season to ensure that all equipment remains in safe and efficient working condition. These workers play an essential role in completing the necessary seasonal tasks that support a productive and successful crawfish harvest.
