Physical labor is needed for farm activities involved in burley tobacco production which includes harvesting and stripping of burley tobacco. Two months experience is necessary in the production of burley tobacco. Work in the fields can begin early in the morning when the leaves are wet with dew and the work will continue all day long even in weather conditions that can be as hot as over 100 degrees. Workers are required to be physically fit and able to perform the duties while standing, bending, stooping, walking and lifting sticks of tobacco, that weigh up to 60 pounds, all day long and while standing on rails that can be as high as forty feet from the ground on tiers four feet wide and six feet high. The worker is required to cut and spike no less than an average of 100 sticks, six plants per stick, per hour each hour during the cutting process.
