Manure is pumped from the manure source to the field through a hose to an applicator that directly injects the manure into the ground to be used as fertilizer. Workers will also be creating irrigation pivots in the fields for manure to run through the fields. Additionally, workers will be applying dry livestock manure/compost on fields. Workers will be responsible for transporting poultry or hog manure from site to field then unload manure into tractor tanker to inject into the field. Workers will inspect, maintain, and repair buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Workers must apply grease to equipment and wash and disinfect equipment frequently to avoid disease, operate tractors to agitate, check and monitor hoses for leaks or issues, run pumps, move hoses and equipment to next jobs, fuel, and maintenance on equipment. The workers will be preparing equipment and ensuring it is safe before using said equipment to apply manure to fields. Equipment being operated/driven may include pumps, tractors, semi-trucks, and hoses. The job requires working around livestock and the strong smell of manure.
