Heavy and Tractor-Trailer Truck Drivers

Workers must be able to drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,001 pounds gross vehicle weight. Workers must be able to drive long distances and perform duties attendant to driving, such as fueling and logging activities. Workers must adhere strictly to traffic laws and DOT regulations. Workers must be able to load, secure, and unload a truck.
Workers must be able to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic signs and signals in English, respond to official inquiries, and make entries on reports and records. Workers may perform other tasks and duties under SOC Code 53-3032. Related duties may be assigned. Work is performed outdoors in highly varied weather conditions and in commercial motor vehicles. The ability to see details at a distance, focus, react to various driving conditions, and otherwise operate the vehicle safely is required. The ability to sit for long periods of time is required. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds is required. Cognitive ability to accomplish the above functions is required. Commercial driving licensure (with a doubles/triples endorsement or equivalent thereof from a jurisdiction with reciprocity) is required.
