Pick apples according to instructions using a ladder and a picking bucket. Workers will be required to lift approximately 50 pounds while going up and down a ladder throughout the work day. Place ladder (up to 20 feet long) against tree limb, climb ladder, secure footing and pick fruit, carefully placing fruit into a bucket. Climb down ladder and gently empty fruit into field container. Fruit must not be squeezed or handled roughly to avoid bruising. Workers may also harvest dropped fruit from the ground. Workers may occasionally do other work such as pruning or orchard maintenance. Work is performed out of doors, sometimes under extreme conditions of heat, cold and rain. Failure to meet quality or production standard is cause for dismissal. One month experience in the job described is required.
