Atividades e descrição

• Workers will perform a variety of manual and mechanized agricultural tasks related to onion production, harvesting, packing, and general farm operations. Duties may include, but are not limited to:
• Grading fields and preparing land for planting
• Planting and seeding onion crops
• Hand weeding and maintaining onion fields
• Hand harvesting onions
• Sorting, grading, and packing onions for shipment
• Operating onion packing equipment and assisting with packing line operations
• Loading and unloading onions and agricultural materials
• Driving and operating forklifts in compliance with farm safety procedures
• Unloading hay and other farm supplies
• Performing general field work and farm labor as assigned
• Cleaning and maintaining work areas, tools, and equipment
• Workers will also load and unload Hay as well as operate trucks or other multipurpose vehicles to transport workers from housing (weather on or off the farm) to the farm properties; haul tools, supplies, or crops; transport workers from place to place around the farm properties during the workday (including on public roads to reach the farm fields); and/or transport workers to the grocery store, bank, or laundry facilities on an as needed basis Those that are requested to drive will be required to possess an appropriate license, no one will be rejected for this position that does not possess a drivers license.
• Workers must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, perform repetitive movements, stand for long periods, bend, stoop, lift, and carry agricultural products and materials as needed.
• Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds frequently
• Ability to work in dusty, muddy, hot, cold, and wet conditions
• Prolonged walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and repetitive hand motions required
• Equipment Used:
• Forklifts
• Onion packing and sorting equipment
• Hand tools and harvesting equipment
• Work Environment:
• Work will be performed in fields, packing sheds, storage facilities, and other agricultural work sites associated with onion farming operations.
• Workers will be expected to conform to the specific instructions given by the supervisor for each day’s work. The activities outlined in the job description will be conducted solely on the worksite which is owned and operated by the employer. Workers are expected to work the number of days and hours specified. Depending on weather, crop or other conditions. Employer will furnish workers, without cost, all the tools and equipment required in the performance of the duties assigned. Workers should report for work with their own suitable clothes. While working in the field, phone usage is limited to emergency use only.
