Duties and description

Original English description
  • Worker will be performing job duties associated with SOC Code 45-2093 Farmworkers, Farm, Ranch and Livestock. Job duties will include: Removing Snow and Ice from worksite, buildings, and other structures. Maintaining ground and landscaping. Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures. Perform minor plumbing as needed to faucets and pipes, and water systems. Maintain heat in buildings to prevent water lines and utilities from freezing. Herd livestock to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Loading and unloading livestock on a regular basis, Ensure the safety and wellbeing of the animals. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Maintain growth, feeding, production records. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Workers will be expected to maintain and assist with livestock feeding systems, ensuring livestock are fed and watered according to respective protocols. Workers will frequently monitor equipment to make sure feed and water dispensers are not plugged, empty, frozen or dirty. Clean-up site. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Washing and disinfecting at the facilities where manure is removed may also be completed. The job requires working around livestock and the strong smell of manure. Must speak and understand English.

Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 80 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
